Trail Overview
Smays Run Trail is a typical state forest graded gravel trail within Moshannon State Forest. It is up and back and crosses North Run Road. It is a dual sport trail allowing Snowmobiles on the trail in the winter months. It is covered by heavy Pines within sections of the trail. This trail is open to Snowmobilers during the winter months. This trail is closed during the hunting season, the last day of the regular/extended rifle deer season (mid-December), and closes April 1st again. The trail is a mixture of gravel and dirt, great for Snowmobiles in winter and hikers and horses in warmer months. It is a double track and is a logging road. It is a part of the extensive 208-mile snowmobile trail system in the forest, and this trail links with other snowmobile trails in the area. This trail is easily accessible in warm months, but more difficult to traverse in winter due to snow and ice.
