Trail Overview

Cole Run Rd is a nice, scenic Pennsylvania state forest road that is a loop connecting to Cooks Run Road. It is easy to travel. During the winter, it is also a joint-use snowmobile trail, so be aware of that when snow is on the ground. The road network in this part of the forest is very scenic, with lots of opportunities to pull off and picnic or relax. As with a lot of Sproul State Forest, this is a remote area with spotty cell service and limited opportunities to provision. The closest gas, food, etc., is in Renovo. Plan accordingly. There are a couple of dispersed motorized camp sites along this forest road. As with all Pennsylvania sites, a reservation on Reserve America is required. The road does cross a power line cut. The access roads are for utility company use only and are gated. Please do not try to go around the gates. As of March 2026, there was active logging along this road, so proceed with caution.
