Trail Overview

The 6.3-mile-long section of Windy Pass Trail on the east side of Timpanogas Lake is a moderate single track that ascends from Forest Road 2154-372 to the intersection with Indigo Extension Trail. This section of trail can be ridden in either direction, but the west section of Windy Pass that connects Sawtooth Trail to Indigo Extension should only be ridden downhill, i.e., from west to east. This moderate section of Windy Pass is mostly a fast and flowy single track that isn’t too narrow, with only minor rock and roots, and no major obstacles. It has a couple small rock faces that you ride over, and a few sections with mild exposure, but it is more approachable for the average rider. The trail side hills along a gradual slope, with a couple of gradual and smooth switchbacks. Near the north end, it goes past a couple of small lakes that make for nice stopping points. The trail is popular with hikers, and downfall will likely be cut by mid-summer.
