Trail Overview
Trail 800 is an exciting, moderately challenging 1.2-mile trek tailored for intermediate offroaders seeking a mix of technical rock crawling and muddy play areas. Located just off Abbott Road near the Clackamas Highway, this short but action-packed route climbs roughly 187 feet from a starting elevation of 1,724 feet to a high point of 1,913 feet, offering an excellent test of terrain articulation. Drivers will immediately encounter a mix of deep muddy ruts, medium-sized rocks, and deep water holes before reaching a popular play area at the midpoint. While capable four-wheel-drive vehicles and high-clearance SxSs with 31-inch tires can negotiate the obstacles, 33-inch tires are highly recommended to prevent high-centering on the tall ledges and steep climbs.
Past the midway play area, the trail splits into two distinct paths, allowing operators to choose between a milder, easier bypass or a more difficult line through challenging rock gardens. Massive whoops and deep holes require careful wheel placement to avoid potential rollovers, though several bypass routes exist to help navigate the most extreme sections. The trail begins at the first marker on the left of Abbott Road and flows southward, ultimately ending at a convenient staging area that makes loading and unloading straightforward. This route serves as a perfect introduction to the rugged terrain of the area, offering just enough difficulty to keep drivers on their toes.
