Trail Overview

Trail 800 is an exciting, moderately challenging 1.2-mile trek tailored for intermediate offroaders seeking a mix of technical rock crawling and muddy play areas. Located just off Abbott Road near the Clackamas Highway, this short but action-packed route climbs roughly 187 feet from a starting elevation of 1,724 feet to a high point of 1,913 feet, offering an excellent test of terrain articulation. Drivers will immediately encounter a mix of deep muddy ruts, medium-sized rocks, and deep water holes before reaching a popular play area at the midpoint. While capable four-wheel-drive vehicles and high-clearance SxSs with 31-inch tires can negotiate the obstacles, 33-inch tires are highly recommended to prevent high-centering on the tall ledges and steep climbs. Past the midway play area, the trail splits into two distinct paths, allowing operators to choose between a milder, easier bypass or a more difficult line through challenging rock gardens. Massive whoops and deep holes require careful wheel placement to avoid potential rollovers, though several bypass routes exist to help navigate the most extreme sections. The trail begins at the first marker on the left of Abbott Road and flows southward, ultimately ending at a convenient staging area that makes loading and unloading straightforward. This route serves as a perfect introduction to the rugged terrain of the area, offering just enough difficulty to keep drivers on their toes.

I have never been up to trail 800 before I ended up entering on the far side of the trail for further away from Estacada. Pretty awesome trail would highly recommend took my four-year-old son with me and had an absolute with no problems at all in 4A going through all of the different mud ravines. At one point, I took a turn down a tighter trail than intended and was brushing off my tires off small tress to back it back to the main trail. Definitely was puckered.. made it home unscathed. Definitely need a high clearance 4x4 to complete the trail.

Once the trail starts to open up go to the right as this is the real trail.(even though it looks like just a messing around area) there are a bunch of crazy lines you can do. but if you have a spotter it is not to hard to pick the easy lines and make it thru. My stock 1st gen Tacoma made it with ease no scraping and never got stuck.

Was a good trail, can be very tight in some areas for a bigger vehicle. like the guy had mentioned before me don't go down the middle trail it's a dead end and hard to turn around. I took the right trail, deep ruts and lots of muddy puddles.

Downed Tree
The trail was fairly overgrown about 1/4 mile into it. Around that point, the track width narrowed considerably and there was a fallen tree blocking the path (chainsaw needed). It may open up further down the trail but I did not explore further

If you enter Trail 800 from the west side to go eastbound, TURN RIGHT to use the trail. After the entrance there’s three apparent directions you could go. The straight/center option looks well used, but it goes downhill and to the right along a cliff. I found out the hard way that it’s a dead end, and there’s no turnaround. The trail there is cambered toward the cliff edge in some places, and it is muddy & slippery. Once on the real trail though, it was great. Muddy and challenging for my ‘13 Tacoma TRD OR, but super fun.
