Trail Overview
Tucked away within the lush, verdant timber of the Willamette National Forest, Straight Creek Road - FS 1162000, often referred to locally as Blowout Road, offers a wonderfully flat and fast gravel drive. Branching directly off of Forest Road 11, this scenic route is frequently utilized by outdoor enthusiasts looking to access peaceful dispersed camping spots along the northern shore of Tule Lake or to enjoy a quiet morning of fishing. As it gently follows the lake's shoreline, the road provides a beautifully varied environment, transitioning seamlessly between heavy, shaded forest and wide-open clearings that reveal gorgeous glimpses of the water and the surrounding mountain landscape. Traveling over a few small, seasonal creeks, the route ultimately connects with Fisher Point Road 1164, making it a highly convenient and deeply scenic backcountry connector.

Earning a highly accessible Grade 1 difficulty rating, this is a smooth, well-maintained gravel forest service connector road that is completely free of any significant technical challenges. The firm, heavily graded surface is exceptionally easy to drive and comfortably accommodates all standard passenger vehicles under normal seasonal conditions. There are absolutely no deep water bars, large embedded rocks, or steep, washed-out climbs to worry about anywhere along the route. Because it does not require elevated ground clearance or a specialized four-wheel-drive system, you can simply maintain a polite, comfortable cruising speed over the gravel and enjoy the effortless journey through the woods.
