Trail Overview
Stretching out for eight impeccably smooth miles, Simmons Ridge Road is a scenic, highly accessible, and effortless transit route through the lush, emerald corridors of the coastal forest. The drive is exceptionally straightforward, sweeping elegantly along the ridge under a dense, moss-draped canopy of towering evergreens before occasionally breaking out into active timber harvest zones. Because this pristine, single-lane track is actively utilized for heavy commercial logging operations, travelers must remain alert and frequently utilize the convenient, wide pullouts to safely yield to massive logging trucks and industrial equipment. Despite the industrial traffic, the journey remains a placid, low-stress cruise. As a spectacular bonus, the western terminus of this beautifully graded route places you right near the trailhead for Munson Creek Falls. Be sure to park your rig and take the short, highly rewarding hike to witness the tallest waterfall in the Coast Range, making this fast-paced, breezy gravel drive an absolute must-do for nature lovers.

Difficulty
From a technical off-road perspective, Simmons Ridge Road presents absolutely no difficulty and fully earns its Level 1 designation. The firm, well-graded gravel surface is completely devoid of deep ruts, steep rocky ledges, or challenging water crossings, making it effortlessly navigable for any standard 2WD passenger car or large, wide overland rig. The primary challenge here lies entirely in driver vigilance and situational awareness. Because this uncomplicated, fast-paced corridor is shared with heavy, fast-moving commercial logging machinery, you must carefully monitor blind corners and be immediately prepared to yield the right-of-way at the nearest wide pullout to avoid dangerous bottlenecks.
