Trail Overview
This can be an easy trail depending on the amount of snowfall over the winter. Double-check with the Forest Service for open dates; the last time I checked, it was September 16th to April 30th. Once you turn right off McKay BU Road and onto Forest Service Road 9736500 (Newberry Trail), you will begin a steady incline. The scenery opens up to a fantastic view in all directions; the further you go, the better the view becomes. Along the way, you will find multiple turnouts for a snack or photo opportunities. The trail itself is easy enough, but since you are on a steady, constant incline, keep an eye on your engine temperatures.
Difficulty
The incline can test the vehicle's systems, especially if you come across patches of snow, and there is a good chance you will. There are loose rocks that you may or may not see, so take your time, again this really depends on the snowfall from the previous winter. I think it's best to stay in four-wheel high until you need to drop down into low; your transmission fluid will thank you.
