Mike's Trail begins near the Jones Creek Campground and travels through dense, overgrown forest on a narrow ATV path. The surface is mostly smooth dirt with intermittent loose rocks and a few dips with water or small stream crossings. The route switchbacks steadily uphill for the first mile on a semi-steep grade, then turns back downhill toward the Diamond Mill staging area, with a similar descent. While the trail is relatively smooth and obstacle-free, riders have to watch for overhanging vegetation that limits visibility.
