Trail Overview

This is a gorgeous, adventure-filled run mostly in line with the OBDR. This trail will either take you on from Domingo Pass to the Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge or run in reverse. It is a great way to make your way to Fields into the Alvord Desert and beyond. Overall, this is a mild trail, but there are a few sections that could get tricky, with large washes and some small creek crossings. Proceed with caution if conditions are wet.

Difficulty

Much of this trail is a difficulty of 2-3. However, there is a section that has some small creek crossings that could be very difficult if there is any wet weather to contend with. There are also at least two large washouts on the road currently. While not overly technical, a long-wheelbase vehicle or one with limited ground clearance could have issues in these spots.

Last 5-10 miles towards Hart rd is really rough even on a light dual sport motorcycle. Speed varies greatly. Wheel path narrow in spots with hidden hazards. 3+ hours on a bike to all day possibly in a truck. Couple cool rock fissure/overhang shaded spots the deer love. Cattle stubborn.

Fairly easy trail in a stock 1990 Isuzu Trooper, I would rate it a 2 maybe 3 (depending on the section). This is a very remote area, so be prepared to self rescue if needed. Driving the entire route can take 6+ hours. There is good Verizon cell coverage.

Dry conditions. Trail was clear and guide route instructions are accurate and easily to follow. Road becomes faint at a few intersections so keep route handy. No major technical features, few off camber & steep sections. Remote and rugged country so don't exepect to see anyone. Make sure you are prepared and self sufficient. Route took about 10 hours from the turn off at Hart Mtn to up over Domingo Pass back into Fields. 3 vehicles where mostly stock 4x4's with moderate lifts and off road tires. Lots of rock so bring spares.
