Trail Overview

This scenic off-road route follows a well-maintained gravel surface that is typically wide yet tapers to narrower sections at times. You will notice drainage ditches running along its edges, and during April there is considerable flowing water. The trail features expansive quarries that serve as possible campsites, as we experienced ourselves. Despite the presence of a sizable concrete bridge attracting fly fishermen, the area remains surprisingly tranquil. While there are a few dispersed sites available, there are no established amenities besides reliable cell service.

Sat June 13, early afternoon: we just finished the ouchita national forest trail that connected to cedar creek trail and it was beautiful. Roads were fine, didn't even need 4wd at all. A 2wd with decent clearance will do just fine. There was one group of SXS that came through and and a few people towards the end of cedar creek trail by 259, but no traffic outside of that. Basic trail, a few hills, rocky ground patches, mainly scenic and worth the drive! Would recommend. I think trail rating of 1 is accurate.

One of the single lane low water crossings for a creek was packed high on the “upriver” side of the creek with debris and the lower side had a steep drop. Water was well over the paved section making it impossible to determine depth or if it was even still there. Speed and volume of the water were the main factors in causing me to turn around. Was coming from easy to west, all other crossing were not an issue at the time.

Well maintained rock road. Aired down and moved through no problem. See a couple is SxS’s moving through.
