This was a fun, albeit short trail. Beautiful country. Manual car wash available to the West in Mount Vernon on SR 36, in front of Walmart.
Obstacles:
Deep ruts force you to straddle and make smart transitions from one side to the other, minding your roll angle. Some areas were very V-shaped and probably about 24" to 30" deep. These might be 6/10 challenge.
The "bypass" others speak of might fit side-by-sides but definitely not my Ranger Raptor without cutting. It had only rained a little bit, so I went through the water hole w/out issue.
Traveling from south to north, there's a tight section between some trees with a dirt/mud upslope. I had to use 4L + F&R Lockers to do it with control w/out hitting a tree ahead.
Traveling from south to north, there was a protruding rock cliff that I had to climb. 2025 Ranger Raptor stock clearance wasn't adequate. Maybe 10" to 12". Had to stack some rocks.
Note that "Stone Quarry Road NE", the trail to the north of this one, is posted "Private Road" now.

Very fun, rutted and wet. About 3/4 done and we hit the spot in the 1st photo. The approach is pretty dug out and on your driver side, there is a lot of exposure. Smaller 4x4 would have a good shot, pickup not so much.

North end of the trail looks like a driveway as it is gravel and there is a lone mailbox next to it. But continue along for 100 yards and the trail becomes evident. Lots of litter alongside the trail. Muddy puddles but solid bottoms make them doable open/open. A fun one that I’ll return to.

From the intersection of bat’s nest and going south down the hill you within 1000 ft encountered a large stump blocking the road. It was a deep washout all around it and no passable route around it. I would venture to say this is a permanent end of this trail unless someone gets creative to rip out the stump sticking up 3-4 ft

Beat up trail. Entrance and exit are washing out with downed trees. The first mud hole from the north isn’t to bad. But getting to it is complex. The second hole is deeper but easy access in and around.

Started from what appears to be the intersection of Batsnest Loop on the map (it’s not if you zoom in), and going downhill from that point. The trail was badly washed out a few hundred feet from the intersection. I have a stock Tacoma Off road. And I wouldn’t try it, I’m also a newbie. Plus it was already dark. So many reasons for me to not even try it. A more experienced person might be able to do it without scratching or denting their vehicle, but that person is not me.

Great trail for us. rolling on 35s and 3in lift. there's some sketchy spots but a lot of fun ruts and mud pits. it does seem to end in someone's driveway which was odd.

2nd time out in as many months. Went from the bottom up this time. 1st mile didn't have to lock em in, til I got to the washout at the halfway point. Going south to north, it was impassable in the truck. Original bypass around the washout is rutted to hell and super muddy; a re gently added bypass is only big enough for a utv or possibly a jeep. Might be able to make it going north to south but make sure you can self rescue.

I ran this trail south to north if you ae not careful you could easily slide into a tree at the section that is washed out and rutted. This trail is fun it is a good warm up for stone quarry

Really great little trail, but has clearly suffered from the heavy rains. I ran it downhill, but if you have anything larger than a 2-door Jeep, a BIG washout that is gobbling up the trail is going to make this extremely technical. Running uphill I think you might have a little better option for tire placement and control around the washout.
Going downhill, the ledge caught me a little by surprise and scraped a little. Drop on the one side is probably close to 13-14”. Just north of the big mud hole, there is a section that has a 4’ deep washout that made squeezing by even in my little 2-door Jeep a little too spicy for my taste, so I took a variant of the very narrow bypass. Which was still impacted by the washout. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but there is *nothing* to the left of those ruts. Also would be extremely difficult to turn around if running top to bottom. In any case, fun little find. Enjoy!

Do not drive off of the County Road. It is clearly marked wilderness area on both sides of the road the entire length ..

Quite a bit more rutted up and wet then was expected. Not overly difficult but fun. The water in spots was up to the top of the tires.

First time wheelin my power wagon. No stripes, no scraping the belly, no problem at all. Started at the top and drove it downhill. Had to take the bypass around the washout before the big water hole (not mud, bottom was solid) because the hole you see is about 4 feet deep. Downhill I probably could have done it in 4hi, but I was solo and never been here before so low lock was the order of the day.
