Trail Overview

Pettiford Creek Trail 13 is a longer route that winds through Pettiford Creek State Forest and Croatan National Forest, running parallel to the boundary of nearby private property. The trail primarily consists of packed sand, with a few light mud sections that may reach a few inches deep--mild compared to other mud pits in the area. Much of the trail is narrow, with overhanging branches and tight corridors, making pinstriping likely for full-size vehicles. A few trails connect Trail 13 to Bogue Road and can serve as a bypass for the narrow section.

Difficulty

This is a rather easy trail with only one mud section that is rather shallow. A few small sections of sand are present, but these shouldn't be overly challenging for most vehicles. Numerous narrow sections are scattered throughout that can be challenging to get past without pinstriping.

This whole trail goes through a trailer park and there’s trash everywhere, about halfway through there is a chicken wire gate obstructing the rest of the path

Was told by a local that it is not used for access. Pick up Bogue road just a few hundred yards down past the cemetery.

Ram 1500, 35s @ 30 PSI, no lockers, 4wd High. Not someone's driveway as previously mentioned. Very overgrown, but only branches. Vegetation would contact even an ATV. Full sized Ram was able to fit easily, but branches and vegetation contact was absolutely non-avoidable. No significant trail obstacles. Trail borders private property. Significant amounts trash on the trail.

The trail was relatively easy, passes along the side of several properties. A few tight spots, but I was able to get my gladiator through just fine, expect plenty of pinstriping

The trail is someone’s driveway, have to do a right turn around at the end to go back to main road, doesn’t actually join other roads as pictured
