Trail Overview
Alfred Woodie Lane is a short trail that begins as a forest service road and leads to a group of privately owned hunting cabins. The road is poorly maintained, featuring small rocks, ruts, and wet sections after rain. A few areas are narrow and may cause pinstriping, though it is wider than many nearby trails. The first half of the trail passes through public national forest land, while the second half winds past privately owned cabins. Records indicate that the road through the cabin area remains public. Beyond the forest section, a large open field offers opportunities to spot wildlife. A couple of additional trails branch off near the beginning, though access may be restricted by gates depending on the season.
Difficulty
A few small rocks, no taller than 6 inches, are located throughout the trail. A few puddles or light streams are also located on the trail; however, these are not much of a challenge as they are no more than 3 inches deep. The most challenging part of the trail is a few narrow sections with encroaching trees and branches.
