Trail Overview

Entering off Route 42, the trail will be marked with town road signs at the start. During Winter the entrance may be blocked by a snowbank. The trail is single-vehicle-wide with limited spots to pull over. Downed trees will be encountered. Snow accumulation during Winter will be extreme. During Summer months Mountain Laurel blooms make this trail very picturesque. This is a public town road that passes through public and private forest preserves. Please respect private property and tread lightly by sticking to the trail.

There is tight brush with limited pullover spots. Snow in Winter will make trail extremely difficult. Downed trees will be encountered.

Overall a nice trail, couple down trees but people made their way around it seems like they’ve been down awhile. One tiny mud spot overall good ride

We drove down Carpenter rd in our 2010 forester the same day and this was more challenging. There were deeper puddles and loose rocks. There were several sections requiring slow careful descent. We did not bottom out at all. There is a tight section where a big tree was cut, but we managed fine. Fun road! We approached it from the north, so looking forward to starting from the south next time.
