Trail Overview
This is the main access road into the Speculator Tree Farm Conservation Easement and serves as the gateway to several surrounding wilderness areas. Most of the easement's forest roads branch off from this route, making it an excellent starting point for exploring the area. The road is wide, well-graded, and easy to travel, with only occasional potholes and scattered rocks creating a slightly bumpy ride.
The route gradually climbs through a dense forest before alternating between wooded sections and small open clearings where wildlife is often spotted. Along the way, you'll catch occasional glimpses of nearby lakes and the surrounding mountains through the trees. Several informational signs describe the area's wildlife, ecology, and extensive trail network, while a few cleared viewpoints provide beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains. The road ends at a parking area and barrier, where motorized travel gives way to the wilderness beyond.
