Trail Overview

The trail is a pass through trail that gives access to other trails in the Capitan Mountains. It consists of rocky terrain that has multiple rock gardens that have rocks up to 12 inches in height with off-camber areas. There are some washout areas that are rutted, and can be muddy depending on the weather and the season. The trail runs through cattle pastures with the possibility of encounters.

The entire trail is very very rough from one end to the other. I barely made 1-3 mph over it. Good for ATV, jeeps and other high clearance 4x4. I had to use the transfer case in 4low and transmission in the lowest range to make it through 90% of the route taking 4 hours to do it - never again. Rear suspension got ruins.

North access to the Capitan Pass Trail. Unmaintained rock garden. Loose rocks, mostly 1 - 1.5' high. I may have averaged 2 -4 mph average speed.
