Trail Overview

This trail starts in High Rolls off of Old Firehouse Road. Pass the houses and it becomes a dirt, rock and gravel winding road. There are a few hiking trails along the way as you pass in and out of Lincoln National Forest. There are a few decent campsites along the way as well. Some great views of the forest and White Sands and sightings of elk, deer, turkey and fox. There are three spurs off this trail that is a total of 12.4 miles long.

Larger loose rocks and gravel, some narrow areas, and it was dusty. There were more 4x4s than I expected. They were zooming around and packed with a lot of people in them which put me on high alert since I'm in a bigger vehicle. It took away from some of the experience to have to worry about them zipping around a blind corner carelessly, thankfully I already drive slow and they had to slam on their brakes more than me.

Pretty standard Forest service road. Some ruts and areas that might be narrow for a full size vehicles.

Trail was a fun quick evening/night ride. Trail was rutted and washboarded in areas from melt off, but overall was a nice and quick ride!

Started at La Luz and turning onto Bailey Canyon. Trail was dry and the road was in good shape with no really difficult spot. Saw some Elk and deer along the trail.

Trail was very easy. We had a light snow the night before we went but the trail was very easily passable. I think we put our trucks in 4WD one time just because of some ruts and snow and didn't want to slow the group down. A few spots were muddy but they had a solid bottom.
