Trail Overview

La Luz is a scenic Forest Service road that begins in the community of High Rolls, New Mexico, before climbing into the Lincoln National Forest. The route starts in a high desert landscape with sweeping views of the surrounding basin before gradually transitioning into dense pine forest as it gains elevation. Along the way, you'll experience a dramatic change in scenery, making it one of the most unique drives in the area. The road eventually winds through a beautiful forested canyon as it enters the heart of the national forest.
