Trail Overview
This 1.6-mile-long ATV trail spurs off of Benson Canyon Trail and takes an alternate route down to Upper Rio Penasco Road that is slightly easier than the Benson Canyon Trail. The trail is a dirt two-track through a forest of pines and firs, with many wide-open grassy meadows. The track has shallow ruts, a bit of loose rock, roots, and potential for log hazards, but is mostly smooth, fast, and flowy. It meanders through the forest with a few gentle curves and a couple of tighter hairpin turns. It pops out onto a road (FS Road 5597B) in a wide open meadow, after a mostly gradual descent dropping only 200 feet in elevation. The rocky road takes you down to Upper Rio Penasco Road, across from the Bluff Springs Staging Area.
Difficulty
This is an easier ATV trail as it has minor rocks and ruts, but is mostly gradual and free of any major rock obstacles. The trail is wide and flowy, making it ideal for less experienced riders.
