Trail Overview
ATV Trail #974 is short and easy, only 0.6 miles long. This is a good starting point to access the few trails in this part of the Gila National Forest. You can park at the horse pasture and easily access this trail after a cattle gate. The route is mostly gradual, with minimal rock and a few shallow ruts. It rides behind some private property behind a few houses, and is very dusty. Mostly, it goes through a very dry terrain of grassy rolling hills lined with juniper trees and tall ponderosa pine. There are several rock cairns lining the route, and it is well signed on both ends, making it easy to follow.
Difficulty
This is a very easy access route, with minimal rock and gradual grades. It is approachable for riders of all skill levels, and easily accessible from the parking area on FS Road 4206B.
