Trail Overview

The northern half of the trail begins with moderately thick patches of sugar sand that can easily leave you stuck if you’re not careful. The middle section features a series of deep whoop-dee-doos that could cause low-clearance vehicles to bottom out. From there, the trail narrows, and full-size trucks will need to watch out for pinstriping from the surrounding pine trees. What really sets this route apart is the fun challenge of maneuvering through the trees and whoops. You won’t find any mud here—expect sandy terrain in the north and a rockier surface as you move south. Along the way, there are four beautiful access points to the Mullica River. One of them is at Goshen Pond Campground, which provides a potable water pump and pit toilets.

Perfect early spring conditions! Very nice ride through pitch pine forest. Bouncy, dry sugar sand, with max depth of maybe 10-12”. Easily handled by my very ordinary 2014 Subaru Outback. Would not attempt in 2WD. This road is called “Little House” on the Wharton State Forest Visiting Vehicle Use Map.
