Trail Overview

This is a narrow, out-and-back trail, leading off of Cold Creek Road. It starts off in the rocky desert, and winds back into the pine forest mountains. It's not that difficult, and there aren't many obstacles except for a few sections with pretty jagged rocks. The desert eventually turns into pine tree-laden forests. The offroad trail ends at a hike that goes back into the mountains. There are some great views on the drive back to Cold Creek Road.

Difficulty

No real obstacles except for some jagged rocks. Airing down the tires and driving slow makes it easy.

Trail is mostly loose gravel but there are some spots that you’ll need to go slow to be safe. Road looks washed away in a couple of spots so I wouldn’t recommend it if it’s raining. Cool little camping area at the end which you’ll see as the trail abruptly ends.

We aired down to 20 PSI and did the trail smoothly on a Subaru Outback Wilderness. Forty minutes each way without stopping. It's only a three because of one rocky area, but it's not technical if you follow the line. It's probably fun with snow.

Pretty easy trail overall. Well maintained especially in the mountains through the trees. The hike at the top was nice and leads you higher into the mountains

Not much to say, golfball sized gravel for the lower stretch of the trail, a few jagged rocks here and there. The upper portion of the trail turns into pine forest with some off-camber inclines that are a welcome change after the mundane drive through the gravel. The peak was pretty uneventful, barely enough room to turn around and it ends with a metal barricade that turns into a hiking trail. The elevation was about 7k feet and about 30 degrees cooler than the valley. I made it through easily in a Jeep Gladiator Mojave. It's a good beginner, in and out trail.
