Trail Overview

Between a Rock and a Hard Place is an exhilarating wash trail that presents an adventurous challenge for off-road enthusiasts. Throughout the trail, you will encounter rock obstacles and shelves; this route offers more complexity than what might typically be completed by a full-sized vehicle. The trail runs south toward the Nellis Air Force Base boundary and climbs north to tackle a fun technical waterfall, making it a highlight for skilled drivers seeking excitement. As you navigate this trail, you'll encounter a narrow, fun, and challenging section sprinkled with smaller rock obstacles that demand good tire placement and careful handling--strategic driving will help you pass through successfully. Sandy stretches combined with boulders enhance the dynamic nature of the trail, providing opportunities for articulation and exploration. Watch for sneaky rocks that may be hidden in the sand, adding to the challenges of the ride. Just north of the Nellis Bypass Road, this same wash offers another trail that provides a challenging climb up a rock waterfall, perfect for those looking to extend their adventure and test their skills even further. Important Note: This trail is rated a 5, reflecting its demanding rock obstacles and technical sections that will provide an engaging experience for those up for the adventure. Expect no cell service while in the canyon, so download your offline maps before you head out. As always, come prepared with plenty of water and supplies, as desert conditions vary widely.

Not sure what made this rate a 5 on OnX. Only came across a couple of obstacles, but some were completely bypassed by the trail. The obstacles there were small, rating should be lowered.
