Trail Overview
Forest Road 73571 intersects with Forest Road 13314 and leads to the Tepee Point Fire Lookout. The road is a one-lane dirt road with some rutting that is easily navigated. As you might expect, the panoramic views from the lookout are quite spectacular. The lookout is manned during the fire season by trained volunteers. Their tasks include monitoring for new fire starts and expansions of existing wildfires and reporting their findings by radio to the Forest Service office in Hamilton. These manned fire lookouts serve a valuable purpose for wildfire management. Visitors should keep in mind that these fire towers are home for the volunteers and their privacy is to be respected during a visit. Do not expect to get a personal tour of the facility, unless specifically invited to do so by the volunteer. There is limited parking available at the lookout.
