Trail Overview
Spar Lake Road or FS #384 is a moderately easy rock and gravel route with moderate climbs and rough surface conditions. The route has moderate use, short sections of degraded pavement from earlier mine activities, and concrete sections to halt erosion from the hillsides. It is typically only one vehicle wide and is used frequently by ATVs and dirt bikes. The route brings you to Spar Lake Campground, which has a dirt boat launch for small fishing crafts. There are multiple offshoot trails from the lake into the forest of varying conditions and several trailheads into the National Forest. There are no campsites or bathrooms along this route outside Spar Lake Campground. Seasonally, this route may be impassible due to snowfall and downed trees. This route is densely forested and is habitat for Deer, Elk, Bear, and Grouse. Contact the Three Rivers Ranger District- Troy Ranger Station for current conditions (406)-295-4693.
