Smart Creek is a scenic, easygoing 4.7-mile trail near Philipsburg, Montana, that is perfect for novice offroaders, scenic cruisers, and those looking to explore the beautiful Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. Following the drainage of its namesake creek, the trail climbs gently from an elevation of 4,531 feet to 5,087 feet near the base of Henderson Mountain and Sunrise Mountain. High-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes will find the route highly accessible, offering a relaxing drive through dense pine forests and open valleys with stunning mountain vistas. The trail features a primarily unpaved dirt and gravel surface, though it can become quite muddy and slick with deep water puddles during wet weather.
