Trail Overview
Meadow Creek is an easy, scenic 17.7-mile point-to-point trail with a technical rating of 2, making it perfect for beginner offroaders, families, and dual-sport riders seeking a tranquil drive through dense lodgepole pine forests and expansive alpine meadows. Connecting East Fork Reservoir to Moose Lake Road, this trail climbs from an elevation of 5,881 feet to a peak of 7,169 feet, offering gentle elevation changes with a cumulative gain of 1,820 feet. The unpaved surface is primarily composed of smooth dirt and gravel, which can be easily traversed during the summer months by most high-clearance vehicles, ATVs, SxSs, and stock four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Along the route, travelers will find several dispersed campsites nestled near Dexter and Meadow Creeks, offering quiet places to spend the night away from the busier recreational sites at East Fork Reservoir. While the main thoroughfare is smooth and offers ample turnouts for passing oncoming traffic, the gated section of Upper Meadow Creek Road on Forest Service Road 5103 becomes tighter and offers limited options for turning around. To complete the trip to Moose Lake Road, drivers should remain on the more heavily traveled main section to connect with Happy Creek Road (FS-5136).
