Trail Overview

A rough, but maintained forest service trail off of the main Langohr Road in Hyalite Canyon. There are various dispersed camping spots off of this trail, as well as several beautiful viewpoints to see the Canyon and the Canyon Road from. Keep in mind the rules (posted earlier in the Canyon) about dispersed camping and fires.

Probably will be snowed on soon. Some areas close to the top were a bit frozen, and there were plenty of avoidable mud puddles with large chunks of floating ice.

Super chill up till the last half mile gets super narrow rocky and deep puddles. Super fun trail when rainy

Easy trail for beginners just prepare to get muddy. There was one big mud pit I encountered but the rest are fairly shallow. Lots of dispersed camping sites along the way. In dry conditions, you could probably make it in 2wd.

Started pretty dry and easy. Lots of pretty wildflowers right now all along the road and still super green. Gets really rutted and muddy towards the top and the road was definitely starting to get washed out from the rain. Was already getting worse on the way down. A few big puddles/potholes but nothing unmanageable as far as that goes. More of a 3 or 4 rating the further up we got. Turned around .5 mile from the top cause it got so muddy and we didnt have the right recovery gear with us. Definitely would want recovery for this trail right now with the mud.
