Trail Overview

Kennedy Ridge 5507 is an exciting mountain route ideal for high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles and SxSs looking for scenic vistas and access to backcountry hiking trails. Spanning 8.7 miles, this route climbs steadily from 3,656 feet to a peak elevation of 5,794 feet, starting as a well-maintained gravel road before transitioning into a rougher, narrower track as it ascends toward Kennedy Ridge. The initial portions of the drive are straightforward and offer smooth traveling, but drivers should prepare for increasingly demanding conditions as they climb higher into the alpine terrain. The difficulty rises significantly after passing the Kennedy Creek trailhead, where the path narrows dramatically and hazards like heavy brush causing pin-striping become common. This upper section features tight turns and sheer cliff drop-offs with very few opportunities to turn around or pass oncoming traffic, making it unsuitable for full-width vehicles. Offroaders will navigate occasional rocks and ruts along this dirt and gravel route, gaining a total of 2,671 feet of elevation before reaching the end of the trail near the ridge, where panoramic views of the surrounding peaks await.
