Trail Overview

Buffalo Bridge West is a scenic riverside trail outside Polson, MT, running along the Flathead River. The route is mostly flat and approachable, but it includes several short hill climbs and steep descents that add some challenge. These hill sections are often muddy and rutted from erosion, especially after wet weather, and require careful tire placement. On the downhill sections, ruts can be deep enough to grab a wheel and pull the vehicle sideways. While the overall difficulty remains relatively easy, these spots can feel sketchy and leave little room for recovery. The trail offers frequent views of the Flathead River along with wide views of the surrounding mountains.
