Trail Overview
Duffy's Hollow Spur A (FS 419A) is a natural terrain Forest Service Road within the Willow Springs Unit of Mark Twain National Forest. The Duffy's Hollow Spur A starts at a small rock fire ring opening along the Duffy's Hollow (FS 419) heading west-southwest along the raised ridge, quickly proving it is not a full-size trail, through the many tight trees, and near constant pinstriping, having many small fallen trees during documentation to add to the thrill. The FS 419A ending is marked by a small dispersed rock fire ring amongst the forest, with just enough room to do a three-point turn from two locations surrounding this ring. Users must turn around and head back out the way they came, as this is the end of the MVUM-sanctioned road.
Difficulty
Duffy's Hollow Spur A is given a 2/10 base rating for having small 6 to 12-inch fallen trees on and along the road, and having a natural terrain path, with potential water collection spots, and surface mud when wet. The unsung/unrated difficulty: this road is very tight; pinstriping and width restrictions will be encountered from the trees lining this path. Difficulty can increase during times of wet conditions, heavy use, and lack of maintenance.
