Trail Overview

This is part 4 of 5 on a trip around Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. It's a nice little section through the forest, with some farmland travel along some streams that feed the Big Piney River. You'll get a chance to see the coolest spring bubbling up out of the ground.

Two weeks ago the area had 8" of snow and ice. Today, following three days of rain, I found this route pristine. I don't know who maintains these roads, but they do an excellent job! Nothing too wet, or sticky, or dusty today. It's a very easy route for any vehicle with a modicum of clearance, and 2wd was just fine. Beautiful country ride on unimproved roads following beautiful rivers and ridgelines. I recommend starting from the North end and head South. I started my day on this route, then connected it to each currently listed route in OnX moving clockwise around Fort Leonard Wood. Made for a great half day. If you want to turn on that 4wd, there's plenty of trails that spur off this route if you're looking to explore in the woods, get muddy, or find some deep holes to play in!

The trail was easy and uneventful. We camped on FSR 1738, Spring Hollow right next to Spring Creek. The water level was pretty low and you could hear occasional vehicle traffic on the main road.
