Trail Overview
Clifty Creek is easy to spot when travelling down County Road W-269. It's an easy trail at the beginning, but soon the road develops a six-inch rut along the passenger side of the vehicle. The trail gradually descends and comes out on a point where you can see Clifty Creek on either side. You might even be able to catch a glimpse of the rock bluff as well. Eventually, you come to a turn where it is possible to park two- three Rigs to camp. At this spot, you find the short hiking trail that leads to the Rock Bluff. Its size is sure to impress you. Down the trail, you can cross Clifty Creek. The difficulty changes after every rainfall, as the entry and exit points will change. Usually, the exit is quite steep and is a loose sand. But the trail continues to nothing. In wet conditions, Clifty Creek will start to flood, making the crossing much more dangerous. There's an easy place to turn around before you reach the creek.
Difficulty
The trail is a two until you get to the creek crossing. The creek crossing is loose river rock with a sandy upward hill climb out, which can be tricky. In flooded conditions, it is not recommended to attempt this crossing.
