Difficulty

Expect several low-water crossings. These flood after most rain events, so beware of the conditions before going. Turn around if it's too deep; it's not worth the tow bill or your life.

I was very impressed with the condition of these dirt and gravel roads. They were very well maintained. Following several days of winter rain, conditions were surprisingly good. Residual moisture kept the dust down with some light water and mud in spots. Although several areas had marked impassable crossing when high water, there was really no water to speak of this time around, just a shallow crossings that even Subarus could do. I spent half a day relaxedly driving around the exterior of Fort Leonard Wood, making a connected loop of all the currently existing routes marked on OnX. This section had some really nice driving that traced both creeks and ridgelines. Beautiful topography here. Other than a few Polarises, I was all by myself; surprising for a Saturday! Oh, btw, did the whole thing in 2WD. Never needed 4WD. I'd call this easy so long as weather doesn't impede conditions.
