Trail Overview

Highway 61 winds through tall pines up and down the hilly terrain of Paul Bunyan State Forest. Riders should expect short but occasionally steep grades, tight trees, roots, and loose rocks throughout. Riders should proceed with the understanding that deadfalls in this system are much more common than others in Minnesota.

Difficulty

Highway 61 isn't an especially technical trail, but it has many of the same features as the rest of the trails in the system. Expect rugged terrain, rocks, root step-ups, and narrow clearance. Momentum and line choice will get you through without too much trouble. The gnarly root section does have a go-around to the side. The one thing that can make this trail more difficult (or any trail for that matter) is deadfalls.
