Trail Overview

This is a dirt trail with tons of rocks. Most of the trail is open to all uses, but the stretch from Eveleth and Virginia to the main trail is only open to ATVs and OHM. It has a great overlook. Great way to get from Virginia to the OHV park. If on an ATV or OHM, the bridge over the query has some amazing views of the area.

Difficulty

A couple steep inclines with rock obstacles. Some deep ruts, wash-outs on hills, and water crossings depending on rain (most were <6" when we were there). Overall easy with some intermediate sections. Single width most of the way with few places to pull over to pass. Tons of sections where one party would have to back up a decent distance encountering anything wider that a motorcycle.

Trail is clear and open. Easily navigable in any full size vehicle.

at the very start on the west side of the trail you go about a quarter mile and then there is an impassable turn in a vehicle that you could drive on any road. this would be very difficult to turn on a side-by-side. only ATVs and motorcycles would be able to make this corner. I started on the west side, made it to that first corner. I'm putting this Mark down that it's not very good for anything bigger than an ATV and I'm not going to try checking out the other end.

Pretty good warm up trail before the orv park definitely not smooth, but nothing hard or technical at all.

Trail for the most part is open, some patchy areas where the sun doesn't hit has ice patches so 4x4 is required to make it through. Other then minor ice patches though the trail is wide open.
