Trail Overview
This trail is wide and relatively well-maintained as it winds through the forest and leads into the Marcell Experimental Forest area, where you may encounter Forest Service vehicles. The surface can become slippery after rain, and several smaller trails branch off into the woods along the way. Signs of recent logging are visible in the surrounding forest. The Marcell Experimental Forest, managed by the U.S. Forest Service since 1962, is dedicated to the study of peatlands and forest ecosystems, including climate experiments such as Spruce. Although there are no recreational facilities, the area offers insight into ecological research and provides scenic views of the forest and lakes. There are no formal or dispersed campsites, and no services such as water or trash disposal. Cell coverage may be limited.
