Trail Overview

Where the Green Fern Grows Trail is a fun and easy beginner's trail. The trail starts out in a section of tall Red Pine Trees traversing over a sandy and grassy surface. Throughout the forest, you'll encounter lush green ferns unlike any in the nearby area. You'll feel like you're traveling through a movie set. The end of the trail finishes with a fun little sandy hill climb. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. All in all, this is a great trail that can be a lot of fun!
