Trail Overview

West Farm Truck Road, also known as Farm Truck Road, is a state-owned/locally maintained, Level-2/ Level-3, forest access route with a surface composition of sand, dirt, and native material. It offers access to forested "Two-Tracks" and hiking paths within the deep wilderness of the Betsy River. It was once a spur of Betsy River Road.

History

The name reflects Michigan's historical use of "farm truck" or "farm-to-market" dirt and gravel routes, which were established to help early settlers, farmers, and lumberjacks transport goods to distribution centers. Paradise itself was founded in 1925, and its surrounding roads—including Farm Truck Road—were originally carved out to connect isolated rural and agricultural pockets to the small lakefront market towns.
