Norway Truck Trail 4 North Loop

Trail Overview

This is Norway Truck Trail 4, located in Dickinson County, MI. It is one of the Northernmost trails in the NWT trail system and offers some pretty spectacular views. This trail starts as a full-width and ORV trail but becomes width-restricted to 65 inches for roughly one mile, about one mile from the southern or northern trailhead. Like most others in the area, this trail is a dirt base that travels through mature forests, with some swamps and forested areas mixed throughout. After recent rain, there will be some water holes that will collect on the trail. However, they are pretty tame compared to others in the area. There can also be a few sections of ruts created by washouts. About 1 mile from the Southern trailhead is a picturesque rock formation along the hydro lines.

Difficulty

That trail can easily be completed by most vehicles. As the trail dries out, it will become more navigable for less capable vehicles. However, after recent rain, there is the potential for several shallow water crossings, as well as some small mud holes, and even a few ledges created by washout and run off. The sight lines throughout this trail are poor to okay, with some sections offering more viewing of what lies ahead, but with most areas being blind. The vast majority of this trail is two-track, but there are a few short sections that do open up to accommodate for vehicle passing.
