Trail Overview
This is a mostly meandering dirt trail until you reach the upper lip; then the trail narrows and climbs. This trail is a loop that can be navigated either way. The elevation changes dramatically near the northern part of the trail, when the trail becomes a narrow two-track with a steep drop-off. For most of the trail, there are places to stop for lunch or to turn off and rest. The trail begins in the woods off of North Lucas Road, before coming out along powerlines that offer a 3-lane dragstrip. The trail reenters the woods on a dirt trail that is just wide enough for two vehicles to pass. There are a couple of road crossings and bridge crossings, with adequate signage to warn the driver. The corners are banked and offer areas for fast travel. The trail slows down when it enters the change in elevation. Up on the ridge, there is a drop-off to one side with limited areas to pass. This section of the trail has washouts and off-camber sections. The trail continues into a field before looping back on itself. There are many other trails to check out in the area. Difficulty
This trail follows a one-lane road with sandy washes, with occasional pullouts that allow vehicles to pass. Conditions are generally manageable, but drivers should be prepared for loose sand in wash sections.
