Trail Overview
NFS 6043 is a fun and easy out-and-back off-road trail located off NFS 6645. This short trail is typically easy with nothing technical, just a couple of rutted spots that can become muddy and mucky after inclement weather. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt, and curves through a beautiful section of the Manistee National Forest. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, with limited places to pass. Logging operations take place here frequently, as you will see, so please use caution. There is a spur trail towards the end if you're looking for more trails to explore. Although this is a short trail, it gives access for hunters, hikers, and wildlife viewers to a diverse section of the forest. Regardless of the conditions, this is a good trail that everyone would enjoy.
