Trail Overview

The Lincoln Hills Route is very sandy, has multiple corners and some decent hills to traverse. The west side is mainly flat, whereas the East side is pretty hilly. Lincoln Hills is bidirectional so it is possible to have traffic coming at you at any given time. The conditions of the route rely heavily on the weather and the day of the week you go. The route does get groomed once a week during the summer. The grooming usually takes place just before the weekend starts. The conditions can go from smooth to washboard pretty quickly with heavy traffic. The route will be loose sand unless there has been a lot of rain. When there has been a lot of rain, there will be some deep water holes that it is possible to get stuck in. There are plenty of places to get off the route and then get back on to avoid these holes. The route will take you through many different types of terrain. There are areas of pines, clearcuts, oaks, and some lower wetland areas. The order that you see the different terrains in, depends on where you access the route. The Lincoln Hills Route can be accessed in many different spots as it has a lot of road crossings. This route does not have a speed limit so you need to be aware of the fact that someone could be coming from the other direction at a high rate of speed. Always stay to the right side, especially in the corners. The route is wide enough for smaller vehicles to slowly pass by each other. If you have a full-size vehicle, it will be more difficult. There are a couple of hills that you will have to climb. The difficulty of the hills will be based solely on what you are driving. A SXS will have no problem in the loose sand, whereas a full-size vehicle may struggle. The Lincoln Hills Route is a lot of fun but you have to be aware of the fact that this is a multi-use route with no speed limit. You could encounter anything from dirt bikes all the way to the big grooming tractor and vegetation makes visibility difficult. Always stay to the right, especially in the corners.

Difficulty

The difficulty of this route depends on what you are driving. The route is a lot of soft, loose sand. The hill climbs have the same soft, loose sand so they can be challenging for a full size vehicle. If there has been a lot of rain, it can have deep water holes.

This trail is nice and wide and clear of any obstructions. There was lots of soft sand, but the majority of trail was washboard and made it hard to get going at any higher speeds

Nice sandy trail, it was smooth mostly with some deep sandy parts, a few decent sized water holes that weren’t too deep, I went right through the middle of all of them in a stock rubicon, only saw 5 people throughout the 26 miles I turned it into combining a couple other trails

Another great area to ride. Washboard is in certain areas, not entire trail. Some puddles still, rained on 1st. Not a lot of traffic for a Saturday.
