Trail Overview

Lake Trail is an out-and-back route that gets its name from the lake that the trail ends at. This route is mostly sandy with some small mud holes. This trail is notable for the great camp spot at the end of the trail where you have close and easy access to the lake. The map shows the trail winding around the lake more;if you try to go further, you will be met with some deep mud pits and a steep hill that you will have to turn around on. Therefore, ending just after the camp spot once you get up close to the lake is recommended. There is cell service at the camp spot but it's unlikely to be reliable.

The forest service has started to widen out this trail probably to prepare it for logging. It's passable with a SXS and still fairly fun but will probably be a gravel road soon.

Day after a big rain, and the trail was fine (non-4x4 high clearance (6" lift) E-350 van). Some of the puddles were a bit deep, but it's just sand - not black slippery mud. We only went to the camp by the lake (pond) - beyond that trail needs some work. It's really easy to miss the turn off to stay on 6332, so watch the map for the trail to take a more SSE bearing (it's right about at the 1 mile mark). The turn off is pretty overgrown for the first 100 yards, but then opens up a bit. Really tall high-roof vehicles may need to clear some branches. We cleaned up the campsite quite a bit and left some firewood behind for the next person.
