Trail Overview
Katz Trail is a very fun and scenic bidirectional road within the Waterloo State Recreation Area. Located just off Highway 94, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the north end, you'll start on a smooth dirt road that leads along this Natural Beauty Road. Towards the beginning of the trail, you will find some areas where you can hop on the Waterloo Pinckney Trail on foot. About 3/4 of the way into this trail, you will come across the Waterloo Hunt Club, where you will find some beautiful horses. Please be respectful of the owners of these animals, as they are part of a private entity. As you continue along the trail, you will also find some areas that are part of the Waterloo Equestrian Trail. Please TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Highway legal vehicles are required on this route. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty, and gives access to other great trails nearby. The south end of the trail finishes at Mount Hope Road. Regardless of the conditions or length of this trail, it's a fantastic route to explore with a lot of fun to be had!
