Trail Overview
Camp Trail is a fun bidirectional trail just on the outskirts of the Waterloo Rec Area. Located east of Jackson near Highway 74, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the eastern end of Cedar Lake Road, you'll start out next to an overgrown tree with lush vegetation edging the trail towards the end. The trail is dirt to start, quickly transitioning to dirt/gravel. This trail is labeled as a Natural Beauty Road, and it certainly does not disappoint. As you continue down the trail, you'll come across a dam flowing heavily with water, making it almost look like a small waterfall. Be sure to take it all in and TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. This trail will surely keep you entertained and engaged. Like most of Michigan's offroad trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty. This trail also gives access to other great trails nearby. The western end of the trail finishes at Maute Trail, so if you haven't checked that out after this one, you should do so! Regardless of the conditions or length of this trail, it's a very fun route to check out.
