Trail Overview
Hemmings Lake Road is a nice easy drive through Gwinn Forest Management Unit. The road mostly travels east and west. On the west end of the trail, it is two vehicles wide on the straight sections with the corners shrinking down a bit. This side is also very well graded and very fast with big expansive views of the surroundings. After 1.7 miles, the area thickens up and becomes a dense forest. The trail's terrain also becomes more rocky and slower-paced. There's nothing of notable difficulty but there are a few small hills with some loose rock. There are also some small puddles that are scattered throughout. After 3.6 miles, you will come across the pull-off for Hemmings Lake and there is a small walking path to the edge of the lake. Throughout the trail, there are a few small dispersed camping locations. There is almost no cell signal the entire length of the trail so downloading offline maps would be helpful.
