Trail Overview

FS 8135 is a 1.9-mile bidirectional two-track in Michigan's Manistee National Forest that offers an easy, enjoyable drive through a quiet stretch of forest while connecting FS 8210 and FS 8420. The route follows a mix of dirt and sandy surfaces, making it an excellent option for those looking to link together several nearby trails into a longer day of exploring. Towering trees and dense vegetation create a scenic backdrop throughout the drive, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the area's natural beauty and spot local wildlife. Trail conditions are highly dependent on the weather, and recent rainfall can result in muddy sections, standing water, washouts, or downed trees that may require extra caution. During the winter months, this corridor is also used by snowmobiles, so expect shared recreation and watch for posted snowmobile route signage. The trail itself has no significant obstacles and is generally suitable for most high-clearance vehicles in normal conditions, while its convenient connections to nearby routes and access to popular outdoor recreation areas, including hiking and hunting opportunities, make FS 8135 a worthwhile addition to any trip through Manistee National Forest.
