Trail Overview

FS 7977 is a classic Michigan two track out and back 0.7 mile trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located off NFS 8050, this trail is easily accessible and truly not one you would want to miss. This trail surface consists mostly of dirt with quite a bit of overgrowth in the middle. This route weaves through a gorgeous section of trees and nature within the forest. Be sure to take it all in! There are a couple of places along the route where the track narrows with some tighter trees. Use caution along this trail in those particular areas. This trail also does come close to some private property as you start, so just be respectful of others and steer clear. Like most Michigan offroad trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. This is not a difficult trail, but it contains a lot of fun and gives access to local hiking, hunting, and other recreation. Regardless of the length or conditions of this trail, it's a route worth checking out. This trail ends in a pretty large overgrowth area, but it does give enough space to make a turn around. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails.
