Trail Overview
FS 7281/7266 is a unique and longer Michigan bidirectional trail at 1.8 miles that is within the Manistee National Forest and the Cadillac Forest Management Unit. Located off East 20 Road, this trail is easily accessible. Starting out, this trail greets you with a dirt/sand surface that transitions to some gravel mixed in here and there. You'll twist and turn along this route as you come across some sections of lush trees and vegetation. Be sure to take it all in. About halfway along the trail, you will transition from one forest to the other, so keep that in mind when you are looking at the scenery around you because that changes as well. There really aren't any notable obstacles along this trail, but it is definitely one you want to put on your adventure list. No matter which end you finish this trail at, you will have access to other nearby trails, so be sure to check those out as well! Please TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it does contain a lot of fun and beauty. This trail also gives access to other great trails nearby. Regardless of the conditions or length of this trail, it's a fun route to check out! Something to note: The Manistee National Forest portion of this trail is open to off-road vehicles; however, where it transitions to the Cadillac Forest Management Unit the Department of Natural Resources website states that it is closed to off-road vehicles.
